Works begin September 2nd at Coombe Park playpark to prepare for the arrival of a pirate ship to be installed on the site. Weather permitting, the work is planned to be completed by September 27th.
The company, Kompan, will have a storage container at the far end of the playpark to store materials. The plan is that most of the playpark and play equipment will be accessible and require fencing on a confined area for safety during the groundwork and installation. Please be advised that the main gate for entry opposite the footpath may be closed while work is completed. Kompan prides itself on its green credentials in producing play equipment. The ship is made mostly of recycled waste materials, such as ocean waste, used textiles, food packaging waste, used plastic bags etc. and is recyclable at the end of its life.
Kompan play equipment adheres to stringent requirements for inclusive play equipment under the UK Disability Discrimination Act as well as The American Disabilities Act to offer play options for all children. There will be a grand opening of HMS Rame Head planned and further details will be made available.
Other playground improvements are planned with feedback from residents and we are continuing to seek outside funding opportunities
